Time and Service commitment: Serve monthly with 5 to 15-year-olds in Logan Square! Engage with the youth, show your love for God during times of worship, and help them with homework or literacy lessons. No experience is needed, but enthusiasm and energy with the children! Tuesdays from 5:30 to 8:00 PM

Children’s Ministry

Time and Service commitment: Second City Stars is the children’s ministry (for kids aged four months to 5 years) of Second City Church. We aim to ensure that every child has a great experience by providing safe, age-appropriate environments where the Bible is taught in creative, relevant, and fun ways. Volunteers are asked to serve once a month, arriving at 9:15 before the service to help set up and staying afterward to tear down the kids' materials. If you teach in the toddler class, please review the prepared materials before class.

Creative Team

Time and Service commitment: 

  1. Graphic Designer: Creates digital and print media for church events and sermon series, as necessary—time commitment: 1 hour per week.

  2. Social Media Posting Manager: Responsible for posting church events to the church's Facebook and Instagram pages. Time commitment: 1 hour per week

  3. Website: Uploads sermon notes and links the online church service video to the sermon page on the website. Time commitment: 1 hour per week

Dance Ministry

Dance Ministry Description:

Mission: to glorify Jesus Christ by loving God and others through dance.
We believe Jesus Christ is glorified and praised by proclaiming God’s Word, God’s Spirit and The Gospel through dancing with all our bodily strength to obey God and serve our community.
Vision: to create a community of Spirit-filled worshippers who break down walls of hostility through art’s common language to bring Christ’s message of reconciliation to the nations.

Time and Service Commitment: Participate in rehearsals for special Sunday worship services and project-based work. Time commitment varies based on projects.

Campus Ministry: ENC Chicago

Every Nation Campus (ENC) is a Christian, church-based (rooted in Second City Church), global campus ministry welcoming people of diverse experiences and backgrounds. Our mission is to glorify & enjoy Christ, share life in the community, and compassionately serve the campus, city, and the nations.

ENC Time and Service Commitment: 

ENC has activities and Bible studies on different campuses throughout the week. Your commitment is dependent on your availability and interests. 

Sunday Service Greeter Team

Time and Service commitment: Once a month, the start time is 9:20 am on Sundays.

  1. Role 1: In person—Greet people at the door and answer any questions they may have about the worship service.

  2. Role 2: Online Greeter Team - Greet people online using the Church Online platform and assist with prayer requests as the service is streamed online.

Sunday Service Hospitality Team

Time and Service commitment: Once or twice a month, at 8:30 am on Sunday, set up the coffee, hot water, and snacks. Also, refill supplies. After the service, wash and dry the equipment, list items to repurchase, and organize the bins for the setup team.

Outreach / Missions

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." Acts 1:8

God empowers us as witnesses to "walk the walk", bringing the Kingdom of God to our friends, family, neighbors, workplace, and our increasing spheres of influence. With prayer and ongoing efforts, Second City Church is fulfilling this Acts 1:8 model through missions to:

  • Chicagoland = our Jerusalem (local) 

  • Madison, WI = our Judea (extralocal) 

  • Charleston, SC = our Samaria (national) 

  • Luxembourg = ends of the earth (international)

Prayer Team

Time and Service commitment: The Prayer Team supports the church by praying for the congregation, ministries, and community.  

Responsibilities include providing a prayer shield for the pastor, the pastor's family, and church leadership, covering ministry teams, outreach initiatives, and church events with prayer, and praying for the congregation and their needs.  

Commitment:  Join the pre-service prayer at least once a month, receive and pray for prayer points during the week, and encourage others to participate. Also, take part in the first Friday prayer and fasting and consider initiating prayer initiatives.

Sunday Service Set up/Tear Down Team

Time and Service commitment:

  1. Sunday Service at the Greenhouse Theater—Set up materials at 8:30 am on Sundays and pack up after the service at 11:30 am, 1-2 times a month.

  2. Baptism Set Up - Serve as needed at the Ministry Center. Duties include filling the baptism pool with water, ensuring the correct temperature, and emptying the pool after each baptism. Sundays 12:30nn to 1:30 pm

Tech Team

Time and Service commitment: Four (4) positions on the tech team need to be filled weekly!

  1. Sound: Set up the sound system, help the worship team with pre-service rehearsal, run sound during the service, and then break down and store the system.

  2. Slides: Create slides for Sunday Service, requiring about 1 hour during the week. Then, run the slides on Sunday during the setup period and the length of the service.

  3. Camera: Set up the camera for our live stream service, operate it during the service, and then tear down and store the camera and other tech equipment.

  4. Stage Manager: Oversee all in-person and online service needs from set up to tear down. Turn on stage lights, assist with equipment, ensure the band, speakers, and volunteers have what they need to succeed, troubleshoot any issues before service and solve any problems during service, and then ensure everything is broken down and stored properly after the service finishes.

For ALL of the positions above, you would serve 1-2x times per month (depending on your preference) and arrive at 8:15 am on Sunday to ensure a successful service!

Worship Team

Time and Service commitment: Serve monthly and practice for around 2 hours with the team when scheduled. Be part of the worship team by playing an instrument or vocals for Sunday services, arriving at 8:15 am for sound check. Also, leads worship during special events, including outreach events and worship/prayer nights.
